POLICE ACTIVITY
13 August 2008
In this week's Lanark Gazette:
Information from a recent police meeting in Lanark, at which a member of Lesmahagow Community Council was in attendance, is that a lot of money has been spent recently providing extra police time in Lesmahagow. As a result a lot of additional intelligence regarding crime has been gathered. In general there is going to be more frontline officers with more focussed policing concerned with prevention and detection. A new Community Inspector, John Sherrington, will be responsible for running Community Units and rolling out this approach; it has already started in Rutherglen and Cambuslang. The intention is to have 60% of officers in the street all the time with 40% reactive in cars.  Community Officers will remain in the post for a long time providing continuity in the community.
