Dovesdale Incinerator

30 August 2010
Correspondence from Dovesdale action group;

As of Friday 20 August 2010, the Action Group Against Dovesdale Incinerator have, on your behalf, submitted over 20,000 objection letters to South Lanarkshire Council.

Check the Evening Times (21/08/10)

This is clear message to the developer Scotgen, South Lanarkshire Council, Elected Members and those that have considered this Incinerator should go ahead, that every community in South Lanarkshire and beyond, is totally opposed to this development. We do not need this type of Waste Disposal, it's only adding to the Environmental Change problems being experienced World Wide and in turn our communities Health. South Lanarkshire Council must not in anyway consider Incineration as a solution to the counties Waste problems.

20,000 objections is fantastic. Remember this, these objection letters were distributed, collected/returned and delivered to the Council in just over TWO weeks. What an achievement from you all.

The Action Group is continuing the campaign against the proposed Incinerator and we still NEED your support. So keep checking - www.dovesdaleincinerator.info for the latest news and forthcoming information on events. We will email you as normal with any updates.

Thanks to you all, this makes the relentless work and overall effort of Everyone in the Action Group very worthwhile.

12 August 2010
The Dovesdale Incinerator Action Group are holding a Family Rally this Sunday (15th August) from 1:30-2pm at the farm and trailer immediately adjacent to the application site, the location of which you already know.

Buses will be leaving the cross in Stonehouse at 1pm to take people down. People who wish to walk down together in a group can also meet up at 1pm at the Tileworks Park in Stonehouse. If these travel options don't suit, please make your way to the rally site from 1:30-2pm.

The rally will include a balloon release-children are welcome to participate.

The rally will also be an opportunity for the group photo that was promised many moons ago when the News of the World decided not to photograph the Action Group and its many supporters. Please come along to get your photo taken.

Please also bring your own placards and banners. Facepainting and dressing up is also welcome. There will be a prize for the best and most creative banner or placard-so get your thinking caps on!

The Action Group website has posters that people can print off and attach to placards for those that don't have time to be creative. You can also attach them to T-shirts to help make an eye-catching photo.

Sensible footwear is advised.

The Dovesdale Incinerator Action Group have created a Template Objection Letter. Whilst LCC have not gathered sufficient information to allow us to come to a conclusion on the deveopment we feel that it is in the best interests of those villagers who do have concerns to have access to this objection letter. Download it here

The collection points for the letters are Billys Store, The Post Office, The Resource Centre and Dynamic Chemicals.

We are keen to hear what local residents think of the proposed plant. Let us know your feelings on it whether you are neutral,  for or against it.
